Day Two.
Today we arrived at the Chengdu airport with three teachers at the arrivial gate waiting and welcoming us. At this moment I felt so honored as well as happy because they took a two hours long ride from the university at this timing just to welcome us. This is the first time I experience this welcoming at the airport. It makes me feel like a superstar! Maybe to them we are. My roommate and I are so tired that we go to bed right after we reach our dorms and because of that we were not issued the canteen card.
Luckily our flight was delayed and we got to stay in such a good hotel with great facilities and delicious meals. I have never stayed in any of the hotels in Singapore. Besides that, we got to skip one of the freezing night in Chengdu. The weather here is as cold as what we expected. Many of us couldn’t take it. Most of them bought a warmer to warm their hands and body because our dorms do not have any heater. Students are wearing at least 2 shirts just to keep themselves warm. Finally, we had a tour around the campus today and met many of the seniors who were those that help out with the previous badge of Singaporeans students. I realize that people here are extremely friendly and sociable. They were so enthusiastic and they look forward to making friends, playing sports and maybe studying together. I heard from the year ones that they actually went to the airport to fetch and welcome us on the first day but sad to say that our flight were delayed. They seldom see students from overseas or maybe tourist in this province because it is not as well-known as Beijing and Shanghai. This is the reason why the students are so excited to meet us. They also have a welcome dinner or us. Most of the dishes are pork and they normally serves rice after eating the dishes.
