Wake up in the morning to have the last breakfast, Tung Bao, and the last lunch, Clay pot noodle. Pack our luggage first before having breakfast. Melissa and I then went to Guang Han Post Office to send our post card that our friends had long awaited for. We kept on forgetting about our post cards until the very last day in Chengdu. Our friends told us to post when we are back in Singapore but the main point of sending a post card is the particular country’s stamp. My mother love to collect stamps thus I send back a few post cards so she that she can keep. Collecting stamps is one of her hobbies!
Clay pot noodles for lunch with some of the local students in school, the last dinner with them. Have to assemble below our dorms at 2pm sharp. Double check our rooms before leaving, hope I didn’t leave anything back. I really can’t bear everybody there including the provision shop owners, the Tung Bao owners, the Clay pot noodle owners and Mr. Ling’s family shop. Besides that, I also miss all the dogs and puppies! Before we leave, Xiao bai’s owner told us that Xiao bai is dead. She was being knocked down by some inconsiderate driver. China’s traffic should really be stricter. Most importantly, I really will never forget Miss Ling and Mr. Ling. These two teachers have always been there for us whenever and wherever we need them.
Miss Ling ask some of the local boys to help us to carry down our luggage because there’s too much for our boys to handle. Since she is the overall in charge of this trip, she has to follow us to the airport which was one of the most upset moments. When she is leaving, JiaHui and I cried. I already tried my best to control but I don’t know why I can’t control my tears. We really miss her a lot. Hope she can come to Singapore for a vacation with her husband and we shall be her tour guide this time round. If I got the money, I will definitely visit Chengdu again!
We are so going to leave this place full of memories and excitement that we will never experience in Singapore. Memories does not mean by jotting down every single word but to remember every wonderful and beautiful moments in our heart. As simple as this.
“We do not remember days; we remember moments. – Cesare Pavese, The Burning Brand”
Today is the last day we are going to Chengdu to shop, and also the last day we are staying in Chengdu. The place we went today is like a street of shops selling cheap goods. This is really awesome, they should have brought us here long ago. The items here are really cheap and in good quality. We are given about 5 hours to shop around this area. I thought 5 hours is more than enough but it is not! Because we left out some street and do not have enough time to walk there. For our lunch, we had glutinous balls and also fried pancake with eggs and hams along the street stalls.
I was told that street stalls food are actually very unhygienic but they look so appetizing and delicious. I still, always buy snacks from those street stalls. After having a quick bite, we resume our shopping schedule. We are so lucky that we followed Miss Ling because she brought us to a shopping mall which sells all the females stuffs which is similar to our Bugis Street. Female’s shopping heaven. Remember we went to Chengdu city to shop last week? We are just one railway station away from there. Some of the students took train there to shop and managed to get back in time. I should have joined them because I didn’t take train before and I really want to experience it. I only realize they went there when everybody gathered to go home. Maybe I will try it the next time when I come to China for vacation.
Today is the first and last dinner we had with the principals and director of Sichuan Aerospace Polytechnic, a huge one. We decided to give Miss Lin a surprise and a token of appreciation to during this dinner. We really touched her that she even tears. When I saw her tearing, I can’t control myself too. Our group shared to buy her a dress where we secretly bought it in the morning during the shopping.
After the dinner together, we set off to put fireworks! Tonight is really an awesome night with the accompanied of beautiful fireworks. This is the first time I put fireworks and also the first time standing so near, watching each and every fireworks setting up into the sky before exploding into little raining sparkles. If Singapore allows us to put fireworks, I probably will put it on all the important occasion provided I have money.
IS presentation is quite successful because I am not as nervous as what I expected. Lunch break was not given because teacher afraid that we will not finish out presentation in time. He allowed us to bring food into the classroom while watching others to present. However, we finish 3 hours before the expected time. I then spend the rest of my time in room packing my luggage before dinner. Finish washing all my dirty clothes so it is easier to pack. Luggage is too small, need a hand carry bag. Should have bought one yesterday but luckily Yao Xiong got one that he don’t need it.
We are then asked to go to KTV with almost everybody. Wukai booked a very huge room which, just nice, can contain us. Before we start singing, we had our dinner at the village. This shall be the last time we are eating ‘Gan Guo’. I will really miss is although it is extremely spicy but I just continue and bear with the spiciness. Tonight is the best KTV night ever! Most of us went including Mr. Nick and our senior, Lance. We are supposed to be back in school before 11pm because gate closes at 11pm but we sang until 12am. Luckily the main gate is not closed, if not we really have to sleep on the floor. Have to sleep right after we reach our dorms because tomorrow morning we are going to Chengdu to shop.
